The 996 that started it all, now on Bring a Trailer
This week: A familiar 996, a live auction, and rapid-fire picks
The market is slim this week. Blame the weather, blame the stars.
But some of you noticed that the 996 Founder's Edition from last week ended up on Bring a Trailer. (Thanks to those who reached out to let me know!)
It closes in just over 24 hours as I write this.
So this week is a bit different. Instead of finding you a new car to consider, we get to watch together what the hardcore 996 crowd will pay for a special one.
Onwards!

Going once, going twice...
As predicted in last week’s meme, the hardcore 996 community has found their car.
BaT member SDplinker used the screenshot I took of the original Marketplace listing to confirm this is the same car, not a quick flip. I feel honored my screenshots are of service.
The comments section is everything you'd expect. Camshaft deviation readings. Of course, the cam deviation readings! (I clearly have homework to do.)
The seller is going above and beyond answering every question thrown at them, sharing additional pictures and even making videos for the fans. A good sport about the whole thing.
How much will they pay? I genuinely don't know. A fair bit more than the $30K it was originally asking on Marketplace, probably. As one commenter put it: "This bad dog is going to set the market."
We'll find out together.
Best of the Rest
Despite the slow market this week, these cars passed the Pepita filter and are worth sharing:
🔗 This well-cared-for manual 996 with a detailed description, only 58K miles, asking $29,999.
🔗 This Guards Red 987 Boxster from a detail-oriented owner that clearly babied the car. Tons of recent service, including a fully rebuilt top. The car looks new. For $21,900.
🔗 This mean-looking black-on-black 996 C4S with 18" GT3 wheels, lots of options, recent maintenance, Tiptronic transmission, for $35,750.
🔗 Yet another 996 C4S, on the higher price end at $38,000, but manual transmission, IMS replaced, and lots of tasteful modifications. The ultimate manual C4S build.

See you next time with more affordable picks!
