12 Porsches I almost didn't show you

This week: Speed dating 12 great Porsches (30 seconds each)

Hi again!

My tracking spreadsheet has been yelling at me. For every car I feature, two (or more) get added to the "maybe pile." It's become a problem.

So this week we're doing something different: speed dating for Porsche buyers.

You know when you spot someone interesting across the room at a party and beeline over to meet them? In thirty seconds you’ll know if it's a polite chat or the start of something special.

That's this issue.

Twelve cars. No deep dives or market reports. Just enough info to know if something catches your eye.

Onwards!

 The Fun Types

  1. 🔗 2014 981 Boxster | PDK | $27,950 🔗: Fair price for this 50,000-mile 981 with a classy color combination. It's a dealer ad though, so you'll have to do proper sleuthing to find out the actual condition.

  2. 🔗 2003 986 Boxster | Manual | $17,489 🔗: Gorgeous spec, and they took great pictures to make sure you see it. Late production year, which is unusual to find. Every service in the car's history was done at a Porsche Center.

  3. 🔗 1999 996 Cabriolet | Tiptronic | $23,995 🔗: Another gorgeous cab in a special color, a rare Arena Red Metallic. The ad is peppered with tons of pictures and the car appears to be in great condition.

  4. 🔗 2007 987.1 Boxster | Manual | $14,799 ðŸ”—: A sleek-looking and well-optioned (Sport Chrono Package, 19" wheels) Boxster at a killer price. High-mileage car, so dot the i's and cross the t's on both the inspection and service history.

The Overachievers

  1. 🔗 2007 987.1 Cayman S | Manual | $24,991 🔗: Very well-optioned car at a Porsche dealer. Well-priced too, for what you get. Every past service done at a Porsche Center. Get a PPI with borescope regardless, it's an S model.

  2. 🔗 2002 986 Boxster S | Manual | $19,250 🔗: Really cool 986 in Speed Yellow, low miles, lots of options, and service history details. If you're looking for a 986 S model, this is a good candidate.

  3. 🔗 2004 996 Carrera 4S | Manual | $36,995 🔗: Sellers of C4Ss like to ask for $40K and above for their cars. This seems to be a well-priced prospect in good condition, with service records, under 100K miles, and with the original IMS bearing replaced by reputable LN Engineering.

  4. 🔗 2015 981 Boxster S | PDK | $29,977 🔗: Very well-optioned S model (I don't see many 981 S models out there under $30K). It seems to be a clean title with the original two keys, manuals, and window sticker. It's at a dealer, so you'll need to figure out the actual service history. No bore scoring or IMS issues with 981s.

The Keepers

  1. 🔗 2007 987.1 Cayman | Manual | $28,881 🔗: Remember the $28K low-miles 987.1 Cayman from a few issues back? This is a close comp, with some extra miles, but with a punchier color and larger optional wheels.

  2. 🔗 2006 997 Carrera S | Manual | $27,500 🔗 — (Backup 🔗): This striking 997 came with a rare aero kit from the factory, has the Sport Chrono package and paint-matched wheels. You're asking yourself why it's so cheap and you already know the answer: rebuilt title. Owner says it was a small hit on the front driver-side and only OEM parts were used to fix it. Since it appears to be a one-owner car, they may have all the answers you need. Rebuilt or not, a 997 that presents this well won't last at this price.

  3. 🔗 2007 987.1 Cayman | Manual | $25,999 🔗: A Midnight Blue beauty. Black rims and dark window tint aren't my style, but that can be fixed. The best part of the ad is a seller who writes a full description of the car and their (cute) motivation for letting it go.

  4. 🔗 2004 996 Carrera | Tiptronic | $28,800 🔗: Gorgeous late-model-year 996 in Carmine Red. Maybe priced a bit over market, but it's your ticket to escape the sea of vanilla-looking 911s out there.
